How much time left for today's mining companies?

We've been doing some work in the mining industry lately, and I won't lie - things aren't looking great. Sure, there is a slump in commodity prices at the moment (winter isn't coming, it's been around for a while in the sector), but there is a longer term issue - namely that there is really a dearth of innovation in the mining space.

Fast Company "Most Creative People in Business"

Before the hubris strikes me down somewhere, I'm really excited that Fast Company reckons I'm one of the most creative people in SA Business at the moment... but what this doesn't reflect is that my creativity and success is pretty much entirely built on the effort that I've put in *together* with the rest of the team at RIIS.

Back Of The Line: Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

As I reflect on the subtitle of this article, which is in fact a popular and anonymous quote I am reminded of a story that I heard just last week Tuesday. A gentleman was narrating a story concerning his wife, who is a Senior Manager at one of the large financial institutions in South Africa. She was doing last minute preparations for a meeting when she received a phone-call. The call came from an Executive Assistant to inform her that four members of the EXCO of that organisation had cancelled their previous engagements to attend her meeting.

Terminated? (The machines have risen) ... ... ... ... So what now?

Arthur C Clarke once said that, ‘Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic’. This quote is not too far off from our perception of digitization only 10 – 20 years ago. The implausible movies that we engaged with for entertainment purposes have unlocked the imaginations of many innovators. Fantasy has become a reality. We are simply ‘Back to the future’ because the machines have risen; So; now what?

Started From The Bottom: - Every Entrepreneurs Journey.

For me personally Drakes 2013 hit single "Started from the bottom" is not merely a catchy tune that I jam to in the car or get down to in my private space. I mean when the song starts I turn it up and for the duration of the song, the beat touches my body which in turn boogies into a super trance. However as I sing along to the lyrics of this song a deeper part of me is touched and inspired.
